Painting a landscape from life is an immersive experience. All of our senses flow with the shifting seasons, marching sun, and drifting shadows. It is as inspiring, as it is challenging. Bringing that scene to life with oil painting begins with developing a composition that serves your subject. Holding on to it through all the tumult around you demands a deep and protracted focus. My goal is to help you improve your paintings through a deliberate process, that develops an understanding of how the light and air conspire to reveal a scene. Plein air painting informs your intuition, improves your memory, and deepens your connection to a place, offering a path for personal growth through your practice.
